1. Air Marshal Suresh Chand Mukul PVSM AVSM VM VSM was commissioned in the Indian Air Force in Jan 1972 into the fighter stream. He has flown almost every combat aircraft on the inventory of the IAF and has logged over 4200 hrs of flying on a variety of aircraft. He is a ‘Qualified Flying Instructor’ and a ‘Fighter Combat Leader’ from the prestigious Tactics and Combat Development Establishment.
2. The Air Marshal has held a variety of operational and staff appointments during his career. The operational assignments include command of a frontline fighter squadron, Chief Operations Officer of a fighter base and command of a frontline airbase. He has also functioned as Air Assistant to Chief of the Air Staff, Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Operations) at Air Headquarters, Senior Air Staff Officer at South Western Air Command and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief at Southern Air Command. Presently he is appointed as the Chief of Integrated Defence Staff with effect from 01 Oct 2008.
3. The Air Marshal is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College and is an alumnus of the Air War College (USA). He is recipient of Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Vayu Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.
4. Air Marshal Mukul is married to Mrs Seema Mukul and they have two sons, Madhur and Ashish.
